Overview
The Community Engagement Collaborative (CEC) Working Group plays a pivotal role in fostering an inclusive and vibrant community for SPN members and the broader software preservation sector. Dedicated to building meaningful connections and facilitating ongoing engagement, the CEC ensures that all activities align with SPN’s strategic goals, creating a positive and respectful environment for participation.
By collaborating with other SPN working groups and external organizations, the CEC amplifies the collective impact of the network, ensuring that SPN’s work is accessible, inclusive, and supportive of diverse perspectives by:
- Developing strategies and policies to support inclusive and effective community engagement
- Hosting forums, workshops, webinars, and informal meetups to encourage knowledge sharing and collective learning
- Creating accessible public-facing resources, such as case studies, best practices, and community toolkits
- Facilitating mentorship, peer learning, and cross-disciplinary exchanges within SPN
- Integrating feedback and insights from members to shape SPN’s initiatives and identify new opportunities for collaboration
The CEC strengthens SPN’s impact by leading education, engagement, and community-building efforts: It hosts at least two major forums or workshops each year, and its merger with the Education and Training Working Group has expanded the reach of these initiatives. Through the STACKTRACE newsletter, new member support, calls for speakers, and resource development, the group helps create a more connected, informed, and active preservation community.
